Casa Montale Intro

Staying here

Casa Montale is a great family house, sleeping 6 people in 3 first floor (upstairs) bedrooms. There is a small bathroom on this level, and a large walk-in shower room on the ground floor.

The ground floor has a large dining room/sitting room with a wood burner and modern kitchen with gas hob and electric oven. The house is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher and has central heating (although this is unlikely to be needed in the summer months).

Outside there is an 8m open air swimming pool with a roman end, 1.2m-1.8m deep. Pleasant gardens with plenty of places to lay down or sit, with a built in BBQ nearby an outside eating area under a pergola offering an excellent view across the valley.

Restored by host Ian Oliver, the house sits in about 4½ acres of private grounds secured by electronic gates. The garden includes a pool and terrace with numerous spots to relax and enjoy the views.

Ian, a professional gardener, maintains the olive groves beyond.

Surrounded by arable farmland, the house enjoys total privacy with no neighbours in the immediate vicinity, other than the gentle chime of the church bells. There are stunning views of the surrounding olive groves, wheat fields and mature trees which populate the valley in which it sits.

Casa Montale is located on the edge of the small fortified hamlet of Montale, a 5 minute walk away. Within its walls sits a church and convent. The local vineyard and cantina www.broccanera.it is now open on the edge of the village, which supplies local wines and oils.

We are 2/3 km (5mins)  from the small town of Serra de conti, which has the nearest supermarket and a variety of local shops.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

We spent a phantastic week in Casa Montale. Pool and kitchen are perfect. Calming situated in a valley with a nice surrounding and view. Ian is a very friendly and engaged host welcoming us with groceries and wine. Most time we spent on the wonderful terasse. Don’t hesitate to stay at Ian’s wonderful house.
